Where's the best place to buy cheap blank dvd's

I've just got a new computer with a dvd re-writter in it. I've not bought blank dvd disc's before and wondered if anyone knew anywhere to get them from cheaply.
I don't really know anything about which brands are good, or if brand matters.
I did see these maxwell ones at play.com for £6.99 http://play.com/PC/PCs/4-/840674/Maxell_DVD+R_25+3pk_Spindle/Product.html
is this about the right price, or should I look else where?

Thanks.

    Hi,

I use https://www.svp.co.uk datawrite are a top quality brand and pretty cheap for a spindle of 100
    £4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
    £400 O/D Lloyds TSB
    £2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
    £5070 Black Horse Finance

Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!

SVP are where to go but avoid Datawrite at all costs.

Ridisc Xtreme is where it's at, I refuse to use anything else. Little bit more expensive but worth every penny.

Why bother with cheap DVDs that are going to be useless in a few months time? :)
  • Also, try https://www.bigmaggot.co.uk - they are cheap too. I have used them and svp and have no complaints about them.

Also see if the following items are instock at your local pc world (search for them on their site):
    086032 // 472036

  • I agree that SVP are the place to buy but these are the discs to buy
    http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1523

If that's more than you want to spend these are a good budget buy
    http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=2001

Watch the price on their website for a few days AFTER you buy from SVP cos if they put the price down within 7 days of you buying they will refund the difference (but you have to ask for it)

We've bought our DVDs from https://www.discworlduk.co.uk. We got Tuffdisc 16x DVD+R (50 tub) for £5.86 and the shipping, if you choose 2nd class royal mail, is very reasonable, about £1.50 as I recall.

I recently started buying mine in Sainsbury's. They've got heaps of reductions on at the moment. I got a 50 spindle of Verbatim which are as good as you need, for about £6!

I always use svp. The customer comments/reviews on each disc are helpful - do take notice of them. I bought some cheap discs about 18 months ago, which burned fine and played well, but after just over a year I discovered that most of them would not play without SEVERE skipping and freezing. Some would not even be recognised as a disc at all in one of my PC's DVD drives!

You won't believe how much time I wasted in trying to recover the data from them. I was really cheesed off. This was the only time I've had problems with blank DVDs. It just goes to show how complacent you can get with using DVDs to back up. Even if they play OK when you first burn them, they could be unreadable just a year later!

I now ALWAYS buy disks with the Taiyo Yunden dye formulation which are generally regarded to be the best quality - but even then read the reviews as some report problems with 16X TY disks.

Loss of data can cause so much hassle I'd rather pay a few pence more per disk and have more peace of mind.
