  • most women arent too scary....but i do think any group of another gender/race/age can be intimidating though. maybe get there a bit earlier and join in the melee? or perhaps you arent as desperate as the housewives.
i think when ive been in a simiilar situation at the gym i feel fine getting on with it but i reckon id struggle if it was opp sex crowd too. actually, just forget it and go to the bar, much more civilized

Give it a few weeks and most of them will be on the sofa with a glass of wine and a chocolate bar watching the tv again, January in a gym is not for the fainthearted LOL.

My sister is a part-time gym instructor (in good MSE fashion using it to pay her way through Post Grad). She regularly teaches classes of Body Combat, Boxercise and Aerobics and quite often takes 2 or 3 classes in a row. Definitely think that classes are a good way to work out and meet some friendly people, even if I don't go to the Gym myself ;)

A bit of a sexist article. I think your fear of women made you stand back a bit too much.

Bah, if you'd watched the Wright Stuff this morning you'd have seen the discussion about how angry and violent hormonal women can be :D :rotfl:
  • I did Body Pump, couldn't walk for three days (and I'm fairly fit!) -so don;t do it! I do Body Combat, which is great, though I can't even get a place this month because of the January Joiners, grrr!

Stick with it Martin body pump is a really good class! You soon learn to push your way in with the rest of them, in fact it's all part of the warm up.

I personally enjoy body attack if your gym offer it. Good luck though!

And well done you for trying to keep fit. :j :j :j

we call January joiners Turkey burners, it is entertaining to see the newbies turn up eveyday for a week never to be seen again.

I question the first come first served type class? We book in & there is a reserve list, how do you plan your training otherwise? Personally though I'd be fighting for a place at the back!
