IE9 'not supported'.... help!

Hi guys.

I run Vista Basic on a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop pc.

Yesterday I allowed a routine Windows update to go through which happened to include an update of Internet Explorer to IE9. My main browser is Chrome but I keep IE installed an a backup basis.

After the update, both browsers seemed to work pretty well as usual.

Today, and somewhat belatedly, I'm getting this heads up from the 'Dell Support Centre' that 'IE9 is not supported on DSC 2.0', whatever that means. They call this a 'critical alert', which sounds alarming.

As far as I can tell, both browsers are working ok and I'm having no noticeable problems with the pc.

Anyone demystify this..???

You need to download the new version of DSC, but I have to ask why bother I have a Dell which is out of warranty and the dell service centre is just using up about 0.01% of your resources and does nothing. I would uninstall it personally and go to the dell site if and when you need driver updates, which will be if you happen to have to do a factory reset whereupon you won't have IE 9 and will have DSC 2.0 ergo your choice.

Uninstall Dell Support Centre, it's just a piece of crap that slows down your computer without acheiving anything useful

  • Agree, get rid of it and problem solved and nothing missed.

  • Forgot to say that the dialogue box offers 'upgrade now' as an option. Should I do that? Am not sure what may be involved...
