Can I get Tescos DTD for an item mis-priced on the shelf ?

My local Tescos has mis-priced an item on it's shelf. I know this cos it has a different price on the internet and also is priced differently at another Tescos store less than 3 miles way from this store.

I ain't stuck the item thru a self-service checkout so don't know whether the item goes thru with the shelf price or not. Does anyone know if I have any chance of a DTD and, if so, how do I do it ? Also in the event that I don't get a DTD deal, can I simply return the item to customer services and get a total refund ?

I have also notice that another item hasn't been priced up on the shelf. What are my rights upon presenting this item at check-out ?

Might be able to help you more if you can tell me what a DTD is.

It's actually a myth if you spot a mispriced item and that a shop has to sell it to you at the knock down price you think it should be. The most common mistake is a shop puts a lower price on a shelf label and doesn't sell it to you at the price you spotted, then the customer assumes they should. It's actually not true, they don't have to though they normally do in most cases. Tesco also tend to have store specific offers quite regularly as well, so some stores will have different offers on at different times than others and don't necessarily have to sell you the item at the price you saw in another store that was priced up differently. It can also be down to the managers discretion as well how they price items.

Shops don't have to sell you an item at the knock down price you think it should be though they may sell it to you at that price as a goodwill gesture.

You could also ask to have the item you saw scanned as the price at the till may be different than what's on the shelf or online.

With regards to the item that hasn't been priced up on the shelf, I'd check this first and then query it. Check here or check Tesco's website
