I didn't like 'Venus' either much - very slow !!. Apparently the writer has previously won several awards. My 3 friends all enjoyed it but I don't think they were blown away either - oh well, at least it was free. I'd have been livid if I'd forked out £9.50 which is what it costs in the Leicester Sq cinemas these days - ouch :eek:you know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!0

The girl who left the Dreams and stood singing(screaming)in that Room by herself, damn my Ears were ringing!0 -
Is anyone else worried that there won't be enough room at the Notes on a Scandal showings? The number of tickets that've been given out so far must be 7 times the number of seats at the cinemas0

Unless there are only 20 seats per code etc.
But it's a bit silly doing both Dreamgirls and Notes on a Scandal on the same day. I have tickets for both showings next tuesday and 6.30. So which one shall i got to?0 -

Hi Mr Kennedy, I have seen both and can only say if you like musical style movies Dreamgirls is for you. A few people did leave half way through the showing we attended.
Notes on a scandal is a great movie Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett both play brilliant part. This is a very easy watch.
My husband thought these where both "Chick Flicks" but did enjoyed them.
Hope this helps you a little0 -
I thought Dreamgirls was great - most of the central performances are top drawer, even Beyonce is solid if unspectacular, and i loved the style and vibrancy of the film.
However, its not for people who are 'too cool for school'! its a musical in every sense, and even though i loved the songs, they are LONG and LOUD and somewhat of a terrific musical ordeal (especially 'im telling you').0 -
I must admit, towards the end there were groans every time the singing started (I saw it at Bradford last night)
The singing would have had more impact if they'd just kept it to the performances!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
