Thursday 29th Sept What Small DFW Things Will You Do Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Morning everyone!

Catty - hope you get the news you want today, and DNMS, hope your meet with the housing officer went ok!

Hope everyone who had a bit of a 'meh' day yesterday has a better day today, we had a frantic day dealing with various staff and I think it really took it's toll on my colleague so hoping for an easy day today...

Today I have/Will:
  • Check banking
  • Check CCs
  • Check TCB
  • Ring Santander to reactivate CC online access
  • Check Ebay
  • Transfer Ebay money to CC
  • Breakfast/lunch/dinner from stores
  • Update work Facebook
  • Read OU revision guide - now sent by tutor!
  • LSD - 70p for hot choc at college
  • 2lts water
  • Work Hard!
  • Sparkle!

Haha, lots of repeats these days - must really get CC and Ebay money sorted ASAP!

Off to college tonight but will try and stop by at lunchtime to update, I think I'm so much better with a halftime catch up!

Have a great day all!!!

    - work hard and keep smiling
    - laundry this evening

    Morning :j

Thanks for starting the thread KJP

    Today:

    Checked bank online

Ironed some tops as I didn't have anything smart to wear - fancy having to do THAT at this time of the day

    HM meals from stores

Free paper on train to work

Packed lunch, probably to be eaten on the train, as I have to head off for a meeting this afternoon. Late back from work again, by the looks of it :(

Rubbish list, but better get a move on!

    Morning Gang,

Thanks to KJP for starting the thread – enjoy college

Hope everyone else is good – hugs to those that need them

Sorry I’ve not been around....work has been manic and recovering from bugs etc :o

    Today and yesterday I have/will:
    • Checked online banking – payday yesterday so moved bill money into a savings account (so not tempted to spend it)
    • Forgot my bank card so had to move some money into another account which I have access to
    • Need to pop into town at lunchtime to check balance of ISA
    • Need to phone bookstore customer services to cancel the last remaining book on order –MUST do this at lunchtime (need to print off all the info first)
    • Off for a drink after work (will only get lime and soda water – about 40p from a chain pub) or could try to get away without drinking as of to weigh in tonight
    • Updated budget spreadsheet
    • Dinner from storecupboard (still don't have too much of an appetite, so managing to have 1 or 2 meals each day - building up to 3 meals)
    • LSD – will treat myself to WW mag tonight
    • Read freebie paper on the train
    • Used railpass to get to work
    • Checked quidco – hubby’s transaction has tracked
    • Read newspapers online
    • If I get into town in time, renew my library book (or might have to wait til the weekend)
    • Need to charge up mobile at work
    • Take vits and meds to control hormones
    • Update food diary
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Need to keep an eye out for MS jobs and surveys
    • Catch up on this thread from the week
    • Printed off college work for the past
    • Might register on AAT website today or leave it til Saturday (a new month)......work don’t pay for it which is fair enough – they have paid for the course and the books etc and give study leave, so can’t really complain as being qualified gives me a better job
    • Printed off all the college notes/handouts/slides etc using work paper and ink – must get organised
    • When hubby gets home, install the Microsoft package I ordered yesterday.....£400 worth of software for £40 – bargain!
    • I must make more of an effort in general – with life, work, my image etc

Think that is about all, have a great day and sparkle!

    Good Morning all

kjp - Thanks for starting us off and hope you have a better day

We finally got a call back from docs and they finally agreed to see him, so off we popped and he was lovely with him (he has a real fear of docs, ever since he had an op at 2 years) and after a bit of oohing and ahhing and mmm its very sore isnt it we came away with a prescription for antibiotics, painkillers and a diagnosis of septic tonsilitus. Following his instructions to the letter he is also having a pyjama day, so I dont see a great deal getting done today.

Hope everyone else has a great day, hugs and best wishes to all that need them

Today's little list, (very repititive, but feel better for listing)

Check Banks - still going to be very tight
Check Swapits (for LO) and post those swapped - done
Update food tracker (another 2lb off) - in progress
    General tidy up -
Read ("Desperate Diary of a Country Housewife" - not really enjoying but will plod on)
    ironing
    Make apple pie for OH

Hope you all have a great day, love to you all

It's 'subject to survey' but we've already had one so know it's fine, SO relieved, thank you all for your good wishes and crossed fingers. It's probably against DFW rules to be so pleased to get in so much debt :p but I never thought I've be in a position to be accepted, we've been lining our landlord's pockets for long enough now so it's nice to be able to get into a better position. I've had myself written off as a financial undesirable for such a long time and I'm just over the moon. :T

Think I need to go and have a lie down!
