Hai, my name is Jay, I'm 19 yrs old. Have a passport of Lithuania, but live in UK for the last 3 months and I'm sure I'm staying here for the rest of my life ;p
I've moved to UK at July 5th, and started working at 9th of July aswell.
Since then I'm staying with my sister's family, and I have this little problem - her husband cant stand me, I cant stand him and theres a HUGE tension in the place between the three of us. Small space doesnt help either. So I've decided to move out, rent a new 2 bedroom flat for 350£ a month, and atlast live alone. I'm working 40 hours a week, 5 days a week and 2 days going to local college Skills For Life L2 Maths/English courses. Now the problem is - I dont have enough funds to move out, and I cant wait another month to save up money to do so. I need a minimum of 800£, so It would take about 3-4 more weeks for me untill I can move into my new place.
I'd like to receive an advice on where and whether it would be possible for me to get a loan. As I've mentioned above - working full time since 9th July, currently a student and have LLoyds bank account since 7th of August (damn slackers delayed it for a month). Making about 800-1050£ monthly, getting a weekly wage. Resident of the UK since 5th July. Have no loans/mortgages. Looking for about 1k loan, on low APR rate and the company that actually WOULD give it to me. Plz help, thanks.

  • Just being nosy but where do you live that a 2 bedroom flat costs £300 a month? In London you would be fairly lucky to get that price per week  Good luck if you can afford it but do you really need two bedroom? If you will be sharing with a friend, can't he/she contribute?

Do you NEED a two bed flat? Could you borrow the money from family?

Does the flat come with a butler, teasmaid and gold toilet seat?

No banks will give you a loan in your situation. If you can save up within a month then I'd suggest you just stay put until you have the money. It might not be enjoyable living there but if you've manged for 3months already and are out of the house with work & college most of the week then hopefully you hardly need to see the husband.

Or you could see if your employer might be prepard to give you a loan to be paid back from your salary.

As others have said - I would make sure you do a lot of research into whether you can afford to live alone in a 2bed flat with all bills, council tax etc on top, and I'd consider looking at cheaper options.

Now you know why the British are portrayed as workshy, this guy works 40 hours a DAY!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

40 hours a day :D hehe, good one innit. Bout the apartament - I'm living in Wigan, so its way cheaper compared to London I guess ;p The cheapest rent's I've found or been told of was for 320£/month for an old crappeh, full of mold 1 bedroom flat - now 350£ for a new 2 bed IMO is a great deal compared to that. Whether I can manage it - dont see a problem here. But the point is - its not the topic ;p Thanks for replies.

Ok then sticking to the topic - you have almost zero chance of getting a loan.
By some miracle, if you did get a loan, the paperwork will take awhile, so you may aswell avoid the husband, tell your sister that you are saving as quickly as you can in order to leave.
  • Ye, when u put it this way taking in mind the paperword aswell, its not worth it. Thanks

Ask your sister's partner how much it's worth to him to be rid of you.. ;)
