            Orange Wednesdays for me.
I have also recently discovered (through a colleague) that some greyhound racing stadiums do free entry tickets that you need to take with you after printing off from the website (http://www.anightatthedogs.co.uk/). Not all year around but worth keeping an eye on and you don't need to take a lot/don't need to bet every race.
Take turns with a friend to drive and go out for a pizza and a few drinks - make it last! Saves on taxi fares.
Look for local music venues for bands - some have a 'club night' afterwards and if you have paid for a ticket to see the band you can stay in free afterwards.
I am yet to do this but like the idea of it: have a night where you all bring around clothes, accessories, books or whatever that you no longer want and do a free swap OR a £1 an item sale (maximum) and if you all bring some nibbles/drinks it can be very cheap (so I am told - a friend used to do it!) and you could all make some money (or end up equal!) as well.
In the summer time - cycle to a nice country pub for one or two then cycle back before dark. Get some exercise as well! Bank Balance: In the black for the moment. Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

The Prince Charles is a fantastic anachronism. I went to see North by Northwest there years ago, and it felt like a panto. Did the Rocky Horror on a late show a couple of years later.
Anyone heading for the west end, forget Warner, UCI etc, the only place to go is the Prince Charles.
Don't be scared of London is all I can say. Get a travelcard, set yourself a schedule, and there is loads of cheap stuff to do.
 Natural history/ science museum. free
London eye: two for one with travelcard
Regents park on a sunday : free brass band, take a picnic.
Walking down the thames: the greatest river in the world, don't forget to check out the Bazelgete statue near embankment. without him, we wouldn't have a London.
Camden Market: Quirky stuff, for stupid prices
 Pub Theatre:
Loads of pubs have a stage upstairs doing arty stuff. you just need to look."Don't critisise what people look like, how they speak, where they are from, and what they are called. They cannot help it.
Do critisise what they say, and what they do, especially if what they say is different to what they do. They can help that"
