Mortgage application whilst pregnant

Hello all,

Wondering if I can receive an expert advice.....

I and my wife started mortgage application process end of july this year. Now we have a confirmation that she is 16 weeks pregnant.

The solicitor did send us the mortgage confirmation form which asked us around 9 questions to confirm the circumstances one of which mentions the following:

"We undertake that since the mortgage application was made no matter has occurred or circumstances has arisen which the lender is likely to consider important in deciding whether to make the loan to me (for instance I have not received notice for termination of employment or proceedings in court of law.)"

It also says that we must confirm in writing if any of the nine point changes.

My query is, should we inform the bank that my wife is pregnant?

For information:
1. We both are employed.
2. Mortgage in both are our names
3. Wife will be entitled to maternity pay.

Your response is much appreciated.

Thank you.

First off, congratulations on your news!

Ok, will she be taking much time off work? Will she remain employed during the hiatus? What will her income level be during the absence from work? What is her income level now?

    That'll do for starters.

  • dont think it will be a problem most people have children at some point, as long as she remains in employment i would not even mention it as it does not specifically ask

    Congratulations mate
