Dyson for my Nan

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone could help me. Unfortunately my Nan has developed a breathing problem, she isn't doing too well at the moment all round and this is the last thing that she needs.

She went to the doctor and has told (weirdly) that the best thing for it is a Dyson Hoover as they clear a lot more dust and dirt from the carpets. Therefore I am on a mission to find a nice cheap one and get it sent up to her as a bit of a suprise, does anyone know where would be the best place for me to look??

I know ebay prob have cheap ones but i really want a good customer service too in case she gets any problems etc...dont want her to be sending it back and forth..

Please help!!!

Thanks.

i got 2 from https://www.barmey.co.uk and at the time they were the cheapest. I would reccomend the DC07 that i got as its very powerful (when looking at a hoover look at the air watts...the higher they are the better the suction). But you could shop around, try comet too, they have good offers on Dysons sometimes but grab it quick caus they do revert back to price quite quickly x

I've just bought the Dyson DC14 Vroom from Comet (got mine 2 weeks ago at £179.99). It's showing on the website as £199.99 and has been reduced from £329.99. It's actually got the same feature as the 'animal dc14' but has special car attachments included so is a higher spec but the animal is £285!

The only thing I would say about Dyson's is they are very heavy, mine is 11.5 kg

The DC07 that the previous poster recommended is £149 reduced from £249. Another bonus is that all Dyson's now have a five year parts and labour guarantee. The DC07 weighs 8.8 kg...

  • One thing I would add is make sure she can lift it! How strong is she and does she have stairs? Dysons are very heavy and I wouln't wan your Nan injuring herself whilst carrying it up the stairs.
  • Ooops, just realised this is what Tigs78 said too lol

Are those web prices or are they available in store? Because if they are in-store prices you could get John Lewis to price match which would guaruntee you a better level of customer service than you would get with Comet.

Also i would opt for the upright dc07 or dc14 i have both and there about as good as each other i tried the dc08 cylinder one and returned it 3 days later, ive just bought the dc07 all floors for upstairs at £150 from instore comet and there are a few others out there at that price. I also back up the breathing problems being solved by a dyson, my daughter had mild asthma and once we got the dyson it seemed to help and her asthma disapeared and thats not down to having an old hoover as im really bad with hoovers and needed to replace my hoover every 18 months to 2 years and with the added 5 year guarentee is a bonus.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah i did think about weight but I think my next investment may be a stairlift for her to make things easier!! I'm spending more on her than me at the moment, although with all these interest rate rises, that will soon change!!

Many many thanks for all the info though :p
