tesco green points

Not really money-saving, more of a moan and heads-up.
I live in Wales and from the end of October shops have to charge 5p per bag (small or large, paper or plastic). I have no objection to this, while in Tescos this morning there was a notice stating that because of the charge, Tescos will no longer be giving green points for using your own bags, to shoppers in Wales.
This I don't see as fair as any shop keeps the money collected and it does not go to the government or any proper agency.

1) the money collected, will be given to charity as I understand it. Different store in Wales are choosing different charities - mostly with an environmental connection.
I believe, Tesco have chosen the RSPB who are expected to benefit substantially.
I believe part of the regulations, means that Tesco are no longer able to give 'green' points i.e. the 'carrot' has been tried, it's not time for the 'stick'.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Thanks for the explanation, I just thought that they were gaining the money AND taking away the points.0

They are taking away the points BUT there is no legal requirement to pass on the profit from the bags... just a hope that the shop owners of Wales will. It cannot be enforced.
The extra points for re-used bags remain in the rest of the UK - when will Tesco use 'the stick' on them?
SAINSBURYS continue to give points for bag re-use btw :TI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
