Cashminder referred - cant understand why?

I went into the branch last week to apply for a cashminder and it's been referred?

I can't understand why.
credit record is perfect (ATM) and I am on electoral register and have been for years. Permanent employed for same employer for years.

Does it matter which format they search in?

They searched (according to experian)

Joe Bloggs
10 East wing
Anywhere
Anyhow
Bb3 3bb

It should have been I.e

Joe Bloggs
10 house name
East wing
Anywhere
Anyhow
Bb3 3bb

I think as they searched a strange version of the address it might get declined?

Thoughts?

  • they tend to "refer" 80-90% of new cashminder accounts so dont worry..you should hear something in the next few days from them

  • Although most now use the Post Office provided address info, a lot still combine it with their own in house address systems. Depends how that's built as to how they manage to enter less than ordinary address formats.

I'm sure the credit reference agency will make the connection, they've made some strange ones for me in the past!

As Phil says though, most new cashminder accounts are referred anyway, if you don't hear in a few days just ring them up and see how it's going. If they say declined then ask them to appeal and it should go through fine.

  • Funny thing is on 192.com I can find myself straight away.

They took ID in the branch so it seems strange.
  • Like I said, it's probably limited address fields to fill in on their computer system, so they've done the best they can. I wouldn't worry about it.

As Phil has said, this is quite common and nothing to worry about:)

  • Just phoned them (you may think it strange but I have always been given accounts without these issues)

Still referred - spoke to a really helpful chap on the phone who did another app but this time with the address EXACTLY the same as the electoral register.

    It was approved straight away.

I now possibly have to take I.d into the branch (they have it already)

Do you think it will matter that some of my I.d has different variations of the same address?

    I.e flat 1 smith street
    Flat 1, smith street
    1 smith street

I live in a Flat x, something House address and it took me ages to get this sorted with the credit agencies as we were always getting declined for things! Now it's finally sorted we get accepted for things again.
  • Do you think my ID will still be OK?

co-op's addressing system is actually out-of-date..by a long way!

In my case, they use a county name that has long since ceased to exist as a postal address..yet if I give the current, and correct, county name, their compy throws a hissy fit!

Where different interpretations and varitaions of an address exist, as long as the post code is correct, the PO can usually sort things out....I had a card delivered last Xmas, with but my name and the county on the front!

Still only took 3 days from posting as well!

Where variations [and incorrect variations] can be a nuisance is when searching one's credit files.

I 'lost' a couple of has-been creditors from a recent check....a request to the CRA resulted in a couple of other address options turning up, with missing information.

One notorious creditor had so seriously mis-typed my address, it is a wonder anything postal arrived!
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

What I find weird is that I spent nearly 3 years living in an Upper Flat, First Floor Flat, Flat 1 (depending on what was typed, although I gave the correct postal address every time) and never had any credit problems from it.
