I've been flipping back and forth between a couple of the free hd channels and their sd counterparts, and can't really see a difference in picture. The picture looks really sharp and beautiful in sd, and the same, really, in HD. Maybe it would show up more in a movie or something as compared to regular programs? I'm trying to decide if it's worth all the bother to sign up for hd as there doesn't seem to be much difference.
My tv is a 50-inch panasonic plasma Hd ready 1080i, if that helps in the assessment.
hi
Im not an expert but held back for a while as could not see diference on others tv when watching bbc ect ( although realised later the they were watchin 101 not the bbc hd channel)
IMO main diference in in the film HD and sport hd although my DD has noticed the diference now that the disney channel is now HD
if your tv is good enough as yours would seem then you will notice the difference between the HD stream and non HD through a sky HD box0 -
Anyone else confirm if quidco tracks on this, or Topcashback? And if it's actually worth a 12-month contract to move over to HD?
I'm thinking of referring my husband on topcashback, getting the 5 quid referral fee, and then signing up for sky hd through his tcb account (sky account's in his name, anyway, though I know that doesn't really matter).0 -

Do u have the movie channels? I think its good for football and movies. I actually cancelled the hd channels last month, decided i am not going to get this offer. Just because i do not actually need or shop at M&S and ive already got some vouchers i have yet to spend. If you can make use of the vouchers though, its a fantastic deal.
One thing i did when i started watching on standard definition was play about with the picture settings on the tv. Seemed to do a good job of it.0 -

There's the rub. We do have movies (as of the past few months), but I was going to cancel when our special pricing for movies ends in March (if not before). We record several but end up watching maybe one a week (so they'd just fill up the hard drive fast in HD). Having HD, however, may make us less likely to want to cancel movies in 6 months as that does seem to be a main purpose of having hd (neither of us watch sports). So it would end up costing us more in the end because we'd likely keep movies, even though we don't watch them that much.
As to M&S, we don't shop there alot, but maybe spend 100 quid or so in a year. Part of that is deals online though, so unless this voucher is actually a giftcard and not those vouchers that look like money, then we won't be able to use it online. I think I could spend it in store anyway, as was going to get hubby a new jumper for xmas and would just do that in-store instead of online, but it would limit me to shopping at M&S for the gift and passing up any online discounts. I know this offer only really saves me money if I use the gift voucher to buy things I would've bought anyway and doesn't make me lose out on online discounts.
All that said, it's still tempting, lol.0 -
Gutted, I have been wanting to upgrade to Hd but we have a White box. Not worth it and i would have gone for it with the vouchers.0

I'm in the same boat- got the white box! I really don't understand why SKY doesn't include other suscribers into the same promotion? Whats the difference- beside that we have to pay for set up? I'm pretty sure that the customers with the blck sky box got they box free ... typical SKY- I wish I could do without...

Not everything on HD channels is in HD - if you configure your guide to show HD in orange text, you can see what is in HD and what's not.I've been flipping back and forth between a couple of the free hd channels and their sd counterparts, and can't really see a difference in picture.
