Wedding Leftovers

Hello ladies and gents

Well I am officially married!!! We opted for a very quiet wedding and then a blig blow out reception a few days later. And everything was completely perfect :)

Now we have had some time to calm down I am getting sick of looking at all our wedding leftovers (spare invites, extra decorations, lots of favours as most people didn't take them ect)
I am hoping to sell them on Ebay to recoop some of the money we spent out on them, I'm not after much as I brought most of it on there in the first place.
Would I be best of doing a big wholesale bundle of everything? Or selling things bit by bit? I have lots and lots of favours left so should I sell them together or split them into groups of six?

Just need some advice really

    Congratulationson the Wedding!

That really sucks that people didn't take the Wedding favours, I;m guessing you put a lot of thought into them as well!

Do you have a round number i.e 1o/20/30? I would be inclined to put them as a large lot rather than splitting them up but that is my own opinion.

Have a look on ebay and see what people are currently listing in regards to wedding stuff and bulk packages to give you a guide

  • Sell them bit by bit - that's what I've been doing.
In some instances I've actually got more than I paid for them originally, for example, I paud £20 for my cake stand & sold it for £25!

I waited for free listing days on ebay, and put some stuff on gum tree too.
  • Thanks you the suggestions.
I think I will take both suggestions and sell things bit by bit but grouped together. So all the favours together, all the banners together, all the invites together.
Any ideas on next free listing day? That would help out even more :)

Ach what a shame that some of the favours got left behind. :( What favours did you have?
  • handmade favour bags each with either a clear or copper tealight holder and tealight. They looked really sweet on the tables but apparently not nice enough for people to take home lol. They are neautral colors so I figure someone else might be intrested

They sound lovely, I definitely would have taken mine home if I'd been one of your guests!
I'm sure someone else will snap them up :)

The last free listing weekend was only recently so it will be a few weeks until the next one. I have had better money on preloved as you dont have the sellers fees and most people will search locally so I can do cash on collection and avoid the paypal charges as well.

I am selling things in dribs and drabs but then I boxed everything up (after photographing for the ads) and stuck them in the loft until they get sold.

Its a shame about the favours, I was at a wedding on saturday where there were several left at the end of the night.

How do you go about getthing hold of the leftovers at the end of the wedding? Does the hotel staff (reception venues is a big hotel in our case) go round the tables and pick everything up, and hand the stuff back to you? Or are you supposed to pick these things up yourselves?

Don't want our extra favours to be thrown away, as they are whisky minitaures!

  • In my case we had to clean up the hall we hired ourselves, so it wasnt a biggie. For the hotel it might be best to phone them and ask what they do?

You might need to find a family member to go round and pick them up for you....although hopefully you wont have that many left....usually the venue staff clear them away when they clear down the tables at the end...now that may mean throwing them away or indeed keeping them if they are of any significance...

I suppose its perfectly reasonable though to ask for any unwanted favours to be returned to you afterwards.

To the OP...how sad that not many chose to accept your favours...I have never left mine even if its not something I want...I always think that some thought went into giving it...although I have to say your thead title did make me think more about food than other bits and pieces......
