Clearstep invisible braces

I got the clearstep treatment from a groupon offer, and I've just started. My teeth aren't that bad in general, but there's just one at the front that is quite a bit out of line with the others.
I've been going 5 days so far, and it hasn't been that bad. I used to drink way too much coffee, now I don't have a lot of choice but to cut that down to a couple of cups a day. Also I snacked too much so I'm hoping this will also help me lose weight. So good fringe benefits.
But back to the treatment. There are some threads on here from a couple of years ago. I'm wondering if the people who started this back then could say if it has been successful for them? In particular, I'm probably guilty of not asking the dentist enough questions. I'm not too clear on what wearing the retainer involves at the end. Is this normally just a last set of aligners that needs to be worn for a few months - or can it be longer than that?

Current thinking is retainers have to be worn for life, particularly clearstep/invisilign type as they are most likely to relapse.
Most people wear them every night or have a wire bonded to the back of the teeth.0 -

Really? Oh heck, so longer than a few months then! But I guess if it's just at night then that's not soo bad.
Still interested to hear of anyone who has experience of these in the longer term.0
