    from the article:

'By the time they were arrested, the couple had effectively obtained free groceries to the value of £1,085.They were traced via their Clubcard details and sentenced to a 12-month community order under supervision and ordered to pay £250 each in compensation to Tesco.'

eh? how does that work out?

I'd say they got themselves a pretty good grab-it! Maybe it was a regular!

Do think though, although I feel its wrong to abuse the system: the Supermarkets haven't done themselves any favors taking away the majority of the normal tills (at some stores there are just no normal tills open ever when I visit- not even the lottery/cigarette kiosk/customer services). If they wanted to build up an environment which feels at best, anonymous and at worse, anger provoking ("please remove bag from bagging area..."!!!!) they're doing a very good job of it! I don't think this theory applies to all coupon system abusers (not sure what to call them!) but could definetly see it kick starting those who may have already seen it as something they wanted to try (but for whatever reason didn't) in the first place.

Where's the grabbit? Surely this should be in the "book her Danno!" forum?

MSE user, saying grabbit is where this needed to be. I have an aversion to non grabbit posts in the board, but the OP was right to post this here, which is why nobody so far has complained.

    Here here.

This is for the eyes of grabbit msers as it applies to a (hopefully) small number.

Thanks for posting OP. Let's hope it serves as a valuable lesson.

Perhaps if these companies want to prevent voucher fraud they could y'know do the simple option of reducing their prices? Not hard really lol

As for Tesco in the case of the clubcard voucher, sorry I have no sympathy for Tesco every single voucher is trackable with a unique code how difficult is it to set your system up properly so you can't redeem it over and over. Not condoning what they did but Tesco has to bare some of the responsibility for putting a system in place that allows this to happen. It's almost like laying in the road then complaining when you get runover - rather inevitable that it's going to happen.

Having worked for a number of years in the EPOS business it's not rocket science to get it right
