Hi All

Due to my husband changing jobs half way through the month we have had to get our Payplan payment reduced to the minimum for next month (October).
This has made me feel really really down as we work so hard at our finances to pay as much as we can off every month, we have never had to reduce payment before no matter how hard things get (have been on a DMP since June 2007).

I think we're feeling it a bit more because I am also on maternity leave, and although the maternity payments aren't much lower than my normal wage, anything seems to be a big difference at the minute.

So, I have one more 'big budget' food shop (£80) left before the uncertainty of wages from OH old and new jobs kicks in, so I want to stock up, and am after advice.

- I have turkey breasts, chicken joint and loads of minced beef in the freezer.
- I have loads of rice and pasta in
- I have filled up the tins and jars cupboard
- I have bought enough baby milk to last about 3 weeks, and I have enough nappies and wipes for about 3 months :rotfl:
- I have sorted the eldest's lunchbox food out for the next 3 weeks
- I have got the usual stuff in the freezer - burgers, sausages, pies etc

Basically i'm paniking because in the case of the old job, i'm worried OH took too many holidays & he will need to pay some back & his wage will be really low. In the case of the new job, i'm worried again because they are deducting £60 for a CRB check from his 1st wage.

Is there anything anyone can think of that I might have missed out? I will obviously need to get bread & milk, have made space in the freezer for 3 loaves (only have 3-drawer freezer this is the only space left in it now).

Any help would be grestly appreciated.

    Hi Kirstle

You will get thro this and it will be a story to tell your kids and grandkids - just one of the many stops in the journey of life... One day the debt will be gone - and in the meantime - you need to live each day to the full even if it is on a budget. Budgeting well gives more freedom of choice for the future - that's what I keep telling myself anyway

  • The most important thing is that you can pay all your basic bills, have a roof over your head etc, and it looks like only a temporary drop due to changing circumstances? will you have more money after that? It sounds like you've got more stock in your cupboards than I have!

Good luck to your OH with the new job! :j

  • Yeah it is a temporary drop I deliberately allowed us more grocery money for Sept so I could stock everything up for the beginning of school etc so I guess I am lucky to have done that.

It's so frustrating having to drop the payment though, but, maybe if we get overtime on one month we could make an extra payment.

Thanks guys sorry for moaning, I know there are a lot of people who have a worse time of it than we do :o
