Hi,
I tried making some rice earlier, normally it comes out lovely, but this time I think i used to much water, or didn't rinse it long enough. anyway, it turned out goupy and I had to resort to packet rice!!
Does anyone have any idea what I could do with the rice I made today? I hate wasting food!
thanks
Sarah

I agree. Rice isn't good for reheating. Do you have cats? I often add cold rice to my boys' wet food to bulk it out. The vet told me the correct ratio is 25g rice to 100g food. When we're doing this I cook up a handful, drain it, cool it in cold run ing water and keep it in the fridge. *I* wouldn't eat it but the cats tuck in with no ill effects.Household: Laura + William-cat

http://www.homemade-chinese-soups.com/congee.html normally, it's made with long-grain rice. if you don't have any meat to hand, just add fresh, peeled slices of ginger (a few) with about a litre of hot water to a couple of cupfuls of gloopy rice, bring to boil, and simmer for about an hour. stir every 10-15mins to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan. it's good for a snack, breakfast, for the elderly or weaning babies...0
