Inspiration needed!

Hi all - we are getting married in March 2012. We have decided on a venue for the ceremony and the reception and the 'theme' will be old hollywood, 1930's glamour!

I'm looking for advice on a couple of things - this will be both of our's second marriage - and as such we want it a little less formal and more fun. Does anyone have any hints and tips on how to do this? What happened at the weddings you have been to that made you feel included and relaxed? Does anyone have any experience of second weddings?

Secondly, we are looking for music for the day - old, funny romantic songs - any recommendations? Also for our first dance.

We are also looking for ideas for decorations - the hotel is an art deco one by the sea, hence the theme - and somewhere I can buy a beautiful cocktail dress without breaking the bank! We really don't have much money, but I know that with a bit of efort it will be really special.

Sorry to post such a lot of questions!

  • I may have a couple of vintage clothing suppliers for you to contact if you would like me to PM you with their contact details, I got their cards last weekend at a 1940's event at Wimpole Hall that we went to by happy accident after deciding to visit the hall on our way back to London after a party we attended. They may have something suitable, Let me know if you would like them.

In just over 2 weeks OH and I will be getting married, 2nd time for both of us. The main thing I'd say is not to let anyone draw you into the area of it being low key for a 2nd time. I had for ages assumed if I re-married it would be a small quiet do but then I started thinking that was almost suggesting this marriage was less important than my first one to the guy who turned out to be a lying cheating !!!!!!. So although it's smaller for both of us than our first weddings, and we are on a fairly modest budget, we have still gone for what we want. We are having more fun with it...it's at a zoo for starters :) but the main thing is that the fact it's 2nd time round is totally irrelevant really
