old endowment

I had an endownment mortgage from 1991 to 2004 when i sold my property. I have not bought another one. I have lost all paperwork relating to this now and im in the process of getting info from policy holders about this. Will i still have the endownment policy and life insurance policy and if so what can i do with them.

I am assuming that your policy was a 25 year term contract, so had not matured when you ceased premiums.

For a short time after you ceased premiums, the life cover element would have been maintained from funds within the contract, following which if you did not re-instate the policy, it would have been made "paid up" i.e frozen in time.

To locate the policy, try you old mortgage paperwork/lender - if the policy was assigned they will have details of the provider

If you effected both your mortgage and endowment through a high st lender, ask them for which life company they were Appointed Reps for at the time of writing i.e in 1991 - then you can contact the life co direct (or the group they now belong to if taken over, life book sold).

Or look through old bank statements from the account the policy was paid from, or contact you bank see if they have any old records they can recall - the ddm details will reveal the life co collecting the premiums.

Other than that .... I give up !
