Families!! Invite wording

Families eh!? Who'd have them! lol.

Although this is a minor issue in relation to the others we've had.

My mum has a husband, they've been together since I was 14, so I've never really seen him as a dad if you know what I mean, but I do get on fantastically with him, and he has put in alot of money to our wedding, so I want to go down the formal for the invites and have

Mr Joe Bloggs, and Mrs Lisa NotBloggs invite you to the wedding of their daughter...

Is it going to look really weird as even though they are married they don't have the same name, oh my goodness just realised my mum can't even be a Mrs...

And then do you think it's weird if it's their daughter, cos really I'm not his daughter...

I just don't know.

Sorry rambling post, just realised there is a year to go and I've done nothing!
Thoughts become things!

If your mum and stepfarther are sending the invites from them let them decide on the wording, then everybody's happy.

Best wishes for your wedding and marriage.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I have a stepdad who shared the father of the bride duties with my dad (dad walked me down aisle, stepdad did the speech). My dad contributed nothing to the wedding though and my mum and stepdad and OHs parents did give us some money (about 20% each) but we paid the rest (60%). Out invites said..

    me
    and
    OH
    together with their parents
    etc etc.

    seemed to cover all bases.
  • You say your mum has a husband, so why isn't she a Mrs? And I wouldn't say it's weird as u are not his daughter, but it depends how close you are to your dad. It could be seen as a bit of a stab in the back to him.
On our invites we are just putting something like:
Together with their families/ parents xxxxxx & xxxxxx request the pleasure etc.
But both families are contributing a little.

According to etiquette websites, the correct wording would be...

Mr. Stepdad and Mrs. Mummy request the honour of your presence at the marriage of HER daughter.....

And, if your mum is remarried but doesnt share your stepdads surname, perhaps use Ms? Or ask her what she would prefer to be on there as?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • Why not miss out the word daughter completely, you could put 'Mr Fred NotFlintstone and Mrs Wilma Flintstone cordially invite you to the wedding of Pebbles Flintstone to Bambam Rubble ...'

Not everyone who is married is a Mrs! After I'm married I'm going to be Ms just the same as I am now! I like the "together with their families" idea xx
  • Huh- I did not know that! I always thought that Ms was when you didn't want people to know!
    :T
  • Yes it is, the idea is that Mr doesn't give any clues so I want the same thing...each to their own though eh?! I admit I sometimes would like to practise a new signature etc.etc. but I like being Ms too much! Sorry to hijack the thread!
