Sending wedding cake portions through the post

We had a wonderful wedding last Friday, and now want to send wedding cake pieces to friends and family who weren't there.
I have ordered small cake boxes, but how have others sent these through the post? Are jiffy bags sufficient or does the cake get very squashed using these?

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

if you get small jiffy bags then the cake boxes and cake should fit in snugly...but if you feel that they are moving arond in the bag then you could always wrap an extra piece of bubble wrap around the cake box to help protect it in the post...it should be fairly easy to package up and send..frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Cake boxes and jiffy bags would squash I'm sure. You can buy very small cardboard boxes - but if you want to try and save on cost, then try posting yourself a jiffy bag and see how it is?0

I bought some sterdy plastic boxes from hobbycraft while they were on offer (about 50p each) they were taller than a cake box but have a little lid, I've still got ribbon left over from the wedding so will tie some round the box to make it look nice and then post them in a jiffy bag, cant seem to find them on their website but if you have hobbycraft close might be worth popping in and asking. They were just a clear plastic and came in loads of sizes but these were the smallest, if I get time later I'll pop a picture up for you[STRIKE]Getting married to[/STRIKE] Married my soul mate on

Wrap the cake in greaseproof paper (to keep it moist) then stuff the empty space in the box with scrunched up kitchen paper. Add a note saying you hope it arrives okay, but it'll still be tasty if crushed - put it in as small a jiffy bag as you can get away with, send it off and cross your fingers!Life on a shoestring!0

Our cake pieces were wrapped in a paper napkin, put into a gift box, put into a Jiffy bag & posted. We didn't have any comments about it being squashed, but we did write "FRAGILE" onto the bags!1
