Hi, my son is in his 5th year at high school and wants to earn some money for himself. He has seen me doing surveys online and quite fancies the idea of working from home in evenings and weekends. I dont know if this would be possible because the address would be the same. The problem is he wont be 16 till after newyear so no national insurance number yet. His friend already has a paper round in our local area so that is not an option. Other friends work in shops but they need N.I.number again.
Can I please say that this is his decision to do this not mine.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I remember i used to work on saturdays at the local barber's just sweeping up the hair etc and got about £20 for the days work (That was 10 years ago) some shops always let people work for cash in hand jobs.
Or how about him going round the doors asking people if they need there gardens doing etc (this is probs more of a summer job) Also people with allotments might want help.
Obviously with him being under 16 he can't be paid like everyone else but if he is keen alot of people might give him a job of some sorts.
He could also try selling things on Ebay. Buying in some things and selling them on for profit - You might need to lend him some money to get him started. But there is alot of money to be made from Ebay. I make quite a bit on it at times.0 -
I wouldnt bother with surveys etc, too much work for too little money when you work out the per hour ratio but if he did the postal address being the same wouldnt matter he would just need a seperate email address but theres not much survey work for under 16s. Dd worked when she was 15 in year 11 doing waitressing, other friends did cleaning, kitchen work etc most of this work was found by word of mouth so asking people to put a good word in may be useful, odd jobs espcially gardening if there are elderly people around you would be good too, good luck:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Hi
You dont need to be 16 to work and get paid, you can actually do it legally from 14, but you need your parents and employer to sign an agreement ( check your councils website the info should be on there - its the council who the form is issues by and returned to ) There are rules around how many hours a child can work on a school day and how long they can work before they have to have a break etc. Hope that helps.0 -
We have a school boy in our village who kitted himself out with a four wheeled trolley and car washing gear. He goes around to peoples houses and washes their cars on their driveways. He has a sign on his trolley and works most weekends.
IlonaI love skip diving.
