  • it supports a file size upto 4mb.... well, my super duper camera means my file size is usually OVER 4mb, so would mean a lot of faffing about converting pics into smaller file size.

Make sure you have the cheapest shipping option, supersaver or something similar - its a drop down box on one of the checkout pages, where it shows you the 45.25 total.

Ebuyer is a fantastic online store with very very competitive prices. It's just that their CS is not particularly great.
  • If you want a high quality LCD frame and feel confident (or lucky) with a few electronic components why not make one out of an elcheapo laptop from ebay!

I have just about finished my 'prototype' it has a 15" screen and a resolution of 1026x768, its more than just a photo frame though, currently set to display a different picture every 10 minutes, simply pick up the wireless keyboard press 'home' and your photo frame becomes a wireless internet station, still hanging on the wall :D :cool2:........I'm a geek (so says my wife..........)

heres a pic of the back for those interested:

  • Last week I returned a Logitech keyboard to eBuyer and was amazed that they collected it, tested it and shipped the replacement to me in exactly 7 days. A couple of years ago that took approx 2-3 weeks IME.

I'm happy buying from them, the prices are excellent and it seems the returns service is much much better.
  • Not sure if it is any good, may help someone. Delivery £4.50

The aspect ratio is actually 16:10 so I read in one of the reviews, you'll have to crop all your photos so that they fill the display properly, this applies to the majority of these digital photo frames anyway as there are very few cameras on the market that can take a true 16:9 picture.

This free program called iResize* can batch convert your pictures to your chosen dimensions , plus it has a 'wide' option which is what's needed here. It's crops a bit off of course but that's the only way a photo can be converted to 16:9 to my knowledge. There is no spyware or viruses built in to it, I scanned the .exe with Zonealarm Pro and Trojan remover, both said it was ok.

I've converted 1 photo of my own as a test from 4:3 to 16:9, the resolution is 1440 x 900, it fits my widescreen monitor very nicely :)

    4:3 Version of my pic

    16:9 Version of my pic

I hope all the above helps someone :)

*iResize is a .Net application that can instantly resize a batch of images to a specified resolution. A number of image formats are supported (JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG). You can also easily transform 4:3 images into 16:9 images, such that fit the new widescreen laptops in the market, with no ratio distortion, since the program automatically crops the source images.

The .Net 2 Framework should be installed in order for the program to function.

.Net 2 can be downloaded from Microsofts website. Here's the link for those of you that don't have .net 2 installed :)
