Salt Crystal Lamp?

Does anybody have one of these?
I stayed at a friends house this weekend and (unbeknown to me) she has a cat... I am horribly allergic to cats - If I am on a bus I know if the person next to me has cats as my eyes itch, my nose runs, my asthma starts etc etc...
I didn't have a single reaction even though I woke up with the cat asleep on my feet!!!
She has several of these Himalayan Salt Lamps in the house and having just had a quick look online, it seems they clean the air and can prevent allergies etc etc etc... Lots of health benefits...
I'd be really interested to know if any of you have one of these and what you think of it?
Thank you

Assuming you mean one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Salt-lamp-Himalayan-Crystal-Rock-Salt-Lamp-7-10kg-/120784271042?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Lighting_Lamps_Lighting_SM&hash=item1c1f4db6c2#ht_2633wt_690
I bought a large one for my son (it's about 18" tall, the lamp not my son;)) it is very heavy, break a foot if it fell on it!
But it looks lovely with or without the light on inside it, but as for any of the health benefits, my son was so disappointed.
After 5 years of use he has yet to see any improvement in his allergies or in the air quality of his flat or the other health benefits that he had read.
But they really look good;)0 -
Hi frugal,
As your thread has fallen down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the health board to see if you can get more replies.

Hi!
I have a salt crystal lamp. This may be all "mind over matter" but I find that even just the low glow emitted from this lamp is calming.
I'm not sure about allergies and the like as I don't have any.
However, they are really good at drawing in any excess moisture from the air - the last house I lived in, I could've sold salt to Saxa from how much it created!
I got mine from www.pagandreams.co.uk
Tang;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0
