Informing Landlord

Hi,
We have moved into a rented house as we gave our mortgaged house up for VR, when we go bankrupt is our landlord likely to be informed? We rent the house from my grandad (who is a builder and property developer) and we dont want anyone in our family to be made aware of the situation. Everything is above board and is put through his business and there is a tenancy ageement in place, although there is no BR clause, we get the property slightly cheaper than market value as there are no fees.
I am not trying to hide anything from the OR, i just dont want my family informing.
Thanks in advance.

ORs quite often do write to landlords, I guess to confirm there's no arrears and also mine said he wanted to check my tenancy agreement. Once I told my OR he had a copy of the agreement with my papers he was happy and didn't write to my landlord.
I guess all you can do is write a letter to your OR when the time comes, explaining the situation and asking if they could avoid writing to your landlord if at all possible.
However, if the OR needs to contact your landlord for some particular reason I doubt there's anything you can do apart from be up front with your grandad and ask for him to keep it in confidence from the rest of the family.
Good luck. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Thanks. I have all the paperwork and can prove there are no arrears so hopefully they will show some understanding. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It depends on the individual examiner, some contact the LL whilst others don`t, mine did but I had already informed him anyway.:pB&SC No. 298

They are probably more likely to contact them if they are a relative as there is more potential something suspicious to be going onHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Surely if they have a proper AST then suspicions are less likely? Although if the rent is noticeably less than average for the area I guess that might get an OR curious? When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I have all the documents plus I can show there are no arrears. The rent is only cheaper as it is a proveable market price minus the money he saves by not paying a letting agent. Its a tough enough time without being made to feel like crap amongst my family, hopefully they can have some understanding. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I don't think they ever contacted mine. There was no clause in my contract anyway. If they did I never heard anything! :j0
