Is it possible to get a single parent mortgage. I am moving house and need a smaller mortgage. My mortgage company wont allow me to port my current mortgage and wont give me another. help.

I don't think any mortgages are sold as being single person or joint as I imagine that would be considered discriminatory. The criteria would be whether you can afford the repayments based on income and LTV.
Have you tried any online affordability calculators?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Thanks. Just tried nationwides calculator. Any other worth a go?0

You haven't given any information at all
1) What reason have you been given for the decline?
2) What is your income and where is it from?
3) New property value?
4) Desired mortgage amount?0 -

There is no company that offers a "single parent mortgage". There is also no company that will decline you specifically for being a single parent.0 -

No, was trying to help. Which I won't bother doing any further.
Your original post was so vague it was never going to get a good quality response.0 -

It's anonymous - where's the harm in giving the information? The more info you give the better the info you receive!0 -
Best advice ... based on your response to Andy, is to instead of seeking free guidance go and pay a broker.
Forum - sorry if that appears rude, but I mean come on give us a clue!!

And the result was? If the calculator suggests they would lend based on the criteria given then it looks like there may be something else. Any other debts or missed payments?
It is unlikely than any of the online calculators will give massive differences especially if one company has already declined you. If you already have a mortgage with them, what has changed since they offered that to you? If you address whatever that is then you may be in a better position.
But as everyone else has said we are all in the dark about options without more info.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
