Just some advise needed please...our two year fixed rate came to an end in August. We were looking to move but it didn't cone to fruition so have decided to stay put. We are now on the svr with Halifax & are paying about £200 a month less than we were previously on the fixed. What with the downturn in the world at the moment is it best to stay with the svr or get another fixed?

As with anything, the answer is 'it depends'. What's your LTV, your exact rate, and how does the halifax svr compare to the base rate, i.e. is it limited to x amount above or below it?0

...and in the meantime, pay that extra 200 a month into your mortgage or save it.0

I came off a 4.8 fixed with Santander in July and have been on their 4.24 SVR since then. I'm keeping an eye on the base rate month to month before I make my next move. I would have been worse off if I'd gone straight back onto a fix compared to now as fixed APR's are lower than two months ago.
I guess it's all about timing but thinking I may have to make my move sooner rather than later.0
