Hi, Wilkinsons sell patches, or saving old trousers to use as patches.
I've used the back pocket before for the knee.0 -

Go to the nearest charity shop and rummage around the kid/baby section for an item that matches your fabric. This section carries the cheapest items. My local oxfam usually does a 2-3 items for less than a fiver.
Go to your nearest pundland/pounshop for wundaweb (it is used to 'glue' hems together). They are usually 5mts in each pack.
Cut your fabric to size, wundaweb the life out of it, go over it slightly with needle and thread. For under £5 you can get up to 10 patches, buttons and other useful bits for your stash.
Im a nanny and i love to put quite fabrics as a patch, so baby clothes are the best for my girls.0
