Yes she could, the best thing would be to call these 'solicitors' as soon as she has a minute. Chances are they are not actually solicitors but just a different department within the company that she owes the money to. Most large credit lending companies do this. I had one today from a 'debt recovery' office who are based at the same address as my littlewoods catalogue. Tell your friend to try not to stress out if thats possible. Nobody can take money from you when you don't have it. This letter is just a scare tactic that so many of us on this board are very familiar with.

but what I would do if I were your friend is write out full details of her income and expenditure so that she can demonstate fully what her disposable income is.
Then based on that, make a payment plan to each of the creditors via the solicitors and include a cheque presenting one months payment to those creditors.
If they accept this then she really does need to stick to the payment plan....no excuses.
This obviously needs to be done asap.
Then get her to post her budget details on here, so we can see if she can cut back on anything to throw at the debts.2014 Target;

thanks. she says the reason this has happened is because her pay didnt go into her account and the standing orders bounced because there was no money to pay them with.debt- outstanding

Hi Sarah lou,
Are you sure that she has just got these solicitor's letters straightaway, or has she been ignoring letters which have lead up to this?
