Getting SKY HD - anyway to upgrade for less than £299?

I resent paying them £299 + £60 installation and £10 a month as an existing customer when people can walk into Curry's, buy a TV over £169 and get it for £199.
I went into 2 different Curry's stores today to ask can I buy anything over the £169 and they give me the offer [as I needed a washing machine anyway] - but they said "Before Xmas we would have done, but we cant now as its all checked".
Its doubley frustrating having read on AV Forums that people have bought other things and been given HD, or have bought anything in Currys just to get a receipt to get hold of a store and receipt number to give to Sky and try and blag it. Unfortunately, i believe neither of these "tricks" work now.
Does anyone know anyone/or think it would work to try a cancellation request and say i want to leave unless I get the £199 offer? I mean they are still getting a fair whack, plus my monthly customer and the extra £10 id have to pay.
Just annoys me.

Just phone up and see what they say as they can only say no, and you can always ask them to put you through to cancellations and se if they offer you anything
Personally not going to get SKY HD yet as their are not that many HD channels yet and even some HD channels are showing standard definition programs on them so I am going to wait for a while and see if anymore channels turn up or the price drops0 -
Ive been waiting and waiting - and although it will inevitably get more channels/better and prices may drop - how long do you wait/waste before you decide to jump in? Ive decided to go for it now and enjoy it.
Provided I get it for £199 that is!Debt LIGHTBULB Moment - Sept 2009 - *** DEBT FREE SEPT 2020

Why not say to them you purchased a TV from Currys and then noticed a week or so later they offer came up for £100 off SKY HD but the shop said you could not have the option of getting it seeing as you already purchased it. Just say your not happy and can they give you the same offer and seeing that you are a loyal customer etc..... or you will think about going to Telewest HD0
