As a primary school we are involved with UNICEF's Day for Change on Friday 2nd February. We want to raise as much as possible therefore i would be grateful if anyone has any new ideas that would work within the school.
Obviously these ideas have to be OS as we don't have lots of money to spend on doing anything dramatic!
We are used to our dress down days, bad hair days etc and would like to think of something new which would motivate the children.
Thanks in advance

At work we did a bake cakes day where everyone baked cakes at home, brought them in and then someone priced and labeled them all up and at coffee time all the staff bought cakes to go with their coffee break - raised quite a bit.
Depends on the age of the kids and willingness of parents to help though.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
i organised a children in need day at my school, and one of the things that went well was we had a fancy dress competition for teddy bears. It couldn't be one of those bought outfits.
We also for 10p painted a little fingernail in either red or yellow for pudsey colours. I got the idea from kids who had done it with pink for breat cnacer awareness.
Does it have to be related to making a change? I'm not up on what this is about as i have my foggy mummy head on at the moment. If the kids are young, could they dress up as what they would like to be? Or collect materials to recycle (cans/textiles) and raise cash?
hope something i've said is useful rather than a ramble

Our school had a pyjama day [including the staff!!] and all the children had a hot choc to drink at break time.

Handing out smarties tubes and getting people to eat the sweets then fill them up with some coins (it used to be done with the tubes but should still work).
A loose change hunt- ie people have to go and look hard and see if they can find any pennies lying behind their sofa/in their sock drawer/ in their mum/dad's purse (with permission) that sort of thing.
Something sponsered.
Selling things ie books/cakes/sweets etc
having a disco and charging people to comeMaking my money go further with MSE :j

We have raised money in the past by the kids paying to throw wet sponges at the teachers and ta`s (made loads!!)
Bad hair days, french day all the kids dressed in the countrys style and had a traditional french breakfast at break time.
Fun runs, or how about all the kid bring in as must `change` as they can and see if you can make a path of pennies that go around the whole school??Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Was going to suggest the Charities board, but see you've beaten me to it!

When I was at primary school (quite a while ago mind!) we had a skipathon! We'd have to get sponsors, and even the teachers joined in. It would be on for the whole day - with different classes taking part - so the ropes didn't stop moving all day! (well almost all day!)
We also had a 'readathon' - same again, people sponsoring us to read a certain amount of books.
Another thing I remember was everyone bringing in coins, to see if we could make a trail around the whole school. This of course again dependant on the weather and size of the school! Obviously all the coins went to charity afterwards.
Appreciate the above will only be suitable for children of a certain age, & whether you have support & help on hand from the parents/guardians etc.
ETA: Sorry, just read someone has suggested the coin trail already! I did it too, honest!!!
Good luck!I am in the future you know...

One game that we loved at my children's primary school, but haven't seen anywhere else:
20cm approx top diameter clay flower pot, placed upside down into a larger tray. Put marbles into the tray, and using a desert spoon, and only one hand, get as many marbles through the hole in the base of the pot in a set time.
Does that make sense?

At my school for children in need last year we did fancy dress too and all the children paid 50p or £1 if they didn't dress up.
All the teachers also filled a mug with sweets and pencils etc and they were raffled off at 20p a ticket. That was fairly cheap and easy to do and raised a good amount.
General mini competitions have worked well before, word searches etc with an entry fee and little prizes.
Have fun anyway!Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0
