Help for my Mum

Hi,
I looking for some advice. My mum is in a lot of debt, I don't know how much as she won't talk to me about it. I've tried to speak to her to help but she always feels that I'm lecturing her which I'm not.
A few months ago she contacted a company called Ashley Park. She told me they were a debt management company who contact the lenders on her behalf and arrange payment plans. They took £200 of her money which she couldn't afford and she's heard nothing since, this was months ago. I keep asking if she's contacted them but she hasn't and it just ends up with her thinking I'm lecturing her again.
I really am at a loss as to what to do, can anyone help or give me some ideas/advice?
Are these debt management companies a bad idea? Is there genuine help out there for her?

They are a bad idea as your mum has found out, they charge for their services.
There are plenty of places your mum could have gone to for free advice.
You really need to pursuade her to sit down and let you help her.
Im sure there will be more people along who can give practical help.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hi
I am sure that your mum wants to be helped so what I would suggest is write down the details of the organizations who offer FREE advice and help. Then just hand it to her and let her take over. As a mum I am sure that she feels she has to protect her children, it must be hard to accept help yourself when you are usually the helper (iyswim).Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
