I'm a CII chap too. FPC and MAQ - although the former was done in 1990 and the latter in 2000. I also have parts of ACII and AFPC from back in the day...
I'm not talking to that holly any more. Dissing my CII homies. The equivilent CII mge exam is/was MAQ - and was generally seen in the industry as a somewhat poorer relation (please don't shoot me those who hold MAQ, I'm only the messenger !!)
CeMAP schemap.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I used to teach Cemap many moons ago, my advice to you, would be to try and do a crash course and get the quals in a short space of time if you can. If you want advice on how to proceed when you get qualified, then there are a number of good advisors on here who would be willing to help you, my advice would be for you to become and RI of and AR firm with one of the larger networks, you will find compliance a little heavy at first but this is where the AR and the Network will be able to help you. As this thread has nothing to do with Advice Holly Hobby i will say to the OP, if you need any further advice or a chat about things in general you are more than welcome to PM me or just click through to my website by clicking on my name and there is a link to my homepage from there, i would think others would be willing to talk to you also. A better forum than this for you will probably be CHERRY where all of the posters are either Mortgage Brokers or IFA's. I chair a national brokers meeting twice a year and many advisors old and new find it very helpful as we talk about relevant subjects on how to improve our business and enhance our presence. I would advise you to look at Cherry you wont be dissappointed.I am a Mortgage Advisor. CeMAP schemap.
Oh Kings ... please forgive me.... I meant no disrespect to you and the hood (I'm CII myself you know so really I'm one of the gang ) !!
Seriously though, MAQ or CeMAP - the most important thing is that the OP recognises that prof quals help, not only if you want to be an adviser - but in lots of other roles too, and it can never ever be a mistake or waste of time taking them.
I for example have taken all my quals (and I am Dip) o/s of being an adviser - as they are necessity in so many other roles in the FS industry.
Infact I didn't even have FPC when I was a adviser in mid 90s, as a CR just the basics of need assessment, and the providers own product tests, with a video tape to LAUTRO of you giving advice to be signed off ..... I know it was shocking wasn't it back in the day  !!).
I've sent you a kiss on the cheek Kings to show I still think you are great MAQ or not ..:A
