Point of a lawyer in pension divorce?

My parents are getting divorced and my mum is going to receive 50% of my Dad's final salary pension via pension sharing - this has all been agreed and the CETV etc calculated.
We know which annuity provider to use.
But her solicitor is rubbish and not returning her calls. All the forms for splitting the pension have been received etc, but is a solicitor still needed to get the pension sharing order complete? My Mum wants rid of her solicitor and to finish this on her own if poss.
Thanks

You can pick up leaflets for actual divorce proceedings from the court offices and do that part a lot cheaper than using a solicitor, though independent legal advice is properly wise to ensure any agreement is sound - perhaps just draw up a contract or such to protect both parties if they have already agreed on termsI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

Form P1 http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/courtfinder/forms/form%28p1%29_e.pdf
has to be completed and sent to court so the court can send the Pension Sharing Order to the pension scheme so they can implement it/split the pension according to the court endorsed agreement.
My solicitor organised this first step - lots of selfreppers complete and submit their own pension sharing forms to court.
It can't be done until Decree Absolute is obtained from the court;0
