Can I use OH's CC to balance transfer?

Hi All,
Sorry if this is a stupid question. OH and I are in a spot of bother, too much spending on a credit card which is soon to go from 0% to 17.9% APR.
The CC (as well as 1 other) is in my name - total debt £6,000
OH has no CC or real debt (joint mortgage not included)
If OH was to apply for a CC would he be able to balance transfer cards in my name to his CC?
I just dont think I would get approved for another card but cant afford the repayments once we go to 17.9%!

Yes you can do a transfer from one name to another - key thing is it needs to be a different provider/issuer from your card (eg you can't transfer from a barclaycard to a barclaycard, or an MBNA to a virgin card).
Best way to do the actual transfer is online on the new card site where they ask for the account number and the amount to transfer and don't actually ask the cardholder's name.
(Obviously OH would become legally responsible for the debt once this is done, and if you can't pay he would need to or risk his credit rating, although I see you have a joint mortgage anyway so presumably your finances are already intertwined)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yes, you can, I did this for my OH, as I got a 0% rate so we could pay his credit card off quicker.
My advice also would be, if you haven't already, to work out why you've got into this situation, and make sure you can avoid making things worse. eg do you both have a budget? Is it lack of planning/impulse spending/stress/ combination of things?
