Nectar Card Expired

My nectar card has expired because I haven't used it in so long so I've been told. I had over 16,000 points. I take it they are very stubborn on these things and that's them lost

Contact them and ask if they will credit them back to your card.
I only knew about them expiring by reading it on the Nectar website.
I don't ever recall them sending me any information about the need to use the card in a 12 month period or you lose the points. If you don't have access to the Nectar website how were you to know that they expire if you don't use the card.0 -
Thanks JAG. I wasn't ever aware of being informed but just assumed I had missed it. I've been with nectar since it started as I had my Barclaycard points transferred when they took over the scheme. I certainly didn't recall ever seeing anything about having to use the card at least once every 12 months. If I had I would have used to keep the points. I'd feel a lot more confident about challenging if I was sure that I was never formally informed ie in writing. I guess there is nothing to be lost in trying.0

Yip, that's why I was rather annoyed.0 -
Ok,
As I didn't get anywhere over the phone with Nectar I wrote them a very polite letter expressing my disappointment that my points had a expired and that I hadn't been warned that they were about to expire or can't ever remember being informed that I needed to use my card within year.
I would have been happy with some of my points back as a gesture on their part. Something is better than nothing and all that but was delighted to get a letter back today which said that they couldn't reactivate my old card but that if I registered for a new card they would transfer all my old points.
Needless to say I immediately logged online and registered and a quick call (they couldn't do the transfer via their online chat system) and the points will be transferred within 3 days.
Turns out I had 13,657 so not as many as I thought I had but still a substantial total. I will definitely ensure that my card is used more regularly now that I'm aware that I have to use it from time to time.0 -
Why did you leave it so long??0

Simply because I never had the card on me and I found the keyring card not very robust. It lasted 2 weeks before it broke. It's wide and easy to damage. The Tesco keyring card on the other hand has lasted years. I didn't carry the card because I got sick of all the cards. Tescos, Waterstones, Boots, Xtra Vision, etc, etc, etc. So if it wasn't small and simple to carry I stopped carrying it unless I knew I was going to need it, that is if I remembered to take it. Problem was I never remembered to take it. I have set up a google calendar event to remind me every month to check whether I have used the card so it shouldn't happen again.0
