  • I think cooking for myself and bringing my own lunch is a great idea (I do tend to buy lunch every day at work - bad helen!). I am an officially crap cook but I'm willing to learn - and if I can come out of this with a new skill as well as no debts, then great!

I will seriously try and cut down on the drinks too and limit myself to one night out a week if possible, and if I have to attend for work I'll make it a water night - my friends will just have to get used to the more frugal me!

Before I go home to do my budget planner and raid my wardrobes for ebay items I want to say a HUGE thankyou to everyone who's responded today, I'm already feeling more positive about things.

  • Good morning all :)

Bought my own lunch today you'll be pleased to hear (nothing too adventurous - filled pasta and pepper sauce from last night, I'm going to work my way up to the actual cooking!).

Also contacted Egg about the PPI on my loan and they tried calling me this morning but I was in a driving lesson so I'm going to call them on my lunch break. It sounded quite likely that they were going to cancel it, which is nice - all my dealing with Egg have been great so far.

Emzig - thanks for the quidco tip, going to check it out now.

    Morning Helen,

Am glad to hear that you are embracing the comments and suggestions that people have made on this thread and think your approach and attitude to your new lifestyle is good.

The 'taking a packed lunch to work' really does make a difference and you'll start to realise just how much money can be wasted by buying lunch.

Sounds like you're on a roll now, and even if you feel yourself start to slip (which does happen, even to the most dedicated of MSEers) then don't forget that we are here for help and support to keep you going and your spirits up.

    Good luck x
