I wanna cash in laundered money !

So we get back from our jaunt, I spend days catching up on the laundry, when it dawns on us that we can't find our left over Euros (that we came home with money was a miracle in itself!). Yes, I washed them.

So I went to my local bank who said their computers were down but they wouldn't take them as a deposit to my account. I then went to the Post Office but they sent me back to the bank who doesn't want to know

I am guessing there is a policy for this type of thing - can anyone please help?

Thanks

  • Oooooooooh, that sort of laundered money! It largely will depend on what condition the money is in?

Yes it depends on what condition it is in and whether it is small denominations of notes.

I have 8 ten euro notes and to my humble eye they look unharmed, just a bit faded to me. I spent the two ten pound notes without question but I think as these look a little different no one wants them except me!

    Hello Claudie

It's a pity that you didn't launder sterling banknotes. The Bank of England gives very good information in their web site 'Damaged and Mutilated Banknotes'.

It's not so easy to find information about damaged Euro banknotes. All I know is that you need to contact the Bank of Ireland.

  • Marks and Spencers take €'s - try spending it there on a busy day - it will then become their problem.
