Worst Estate Agent 'Paul CArr' Stay away!

  • Legally it would be very difficult/impossible to enforce a house being "taken off the market". However it's perfectly possible to reduce (not eliminate) the risk of being gazumped by specifying exactly what you want and being tough if you don't get it.

In our case, we said our offer would only stand if the house was marked as Sold SSTC on the EA website and Rightmove within 48 hours, and that all further viewings were cancelled (and no more bookings taken) from that point onwards. It's easy enough to check all of these are being done, and withdraw the offer if they are not.
  • Yeh thanks everyone for the feed back. I know what to do next time... just stand strong and ask for mutual agreement otherwise no offers going ahead.
  • I really dont know... I got my Lawyer to phone them up and awaiting for the news... =( im really upset...this is the second time as well! first time it was a repossession flat and got gauzumped after i've got it surveyed and this time again! -___-
It's not really gazumping with a repossession, where the buyer offers knowing they have to advertise for higher offers.
    Been away for a while.

    *Snigger*....
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
    Ignore......check!

Actually when buying a property a few years back, I found Paul Carr one of the most pro-active in this area.
    ( F Oaks ofice)

I don't work for them, know anyone there, nor in fact did I buy from them in the end, but service wise they were better than the others. If I were to sell and being willing to pay the silly money EA's charge, ( I'm not the biggest fan of EA's) I would likely call them in to see what they had to say.
