mis sold endowment mortgage

i was going thru some of my dads letters and his is still paying for the endowment on a mortgage which releated to a previous property.
He now lives with me in the new "FAMILY" home.
a letter was sent by the company - CIS [coo-operative Insurance] stating that all missold claims should be claimed by Feb 2006.
Do I still have a case- or is it too too late.

Thx

If they have set a timebar date and its gone by then its too late assuming the time bar is valid.

  • A timebar may be challenged with the Ombudsman if there have been exceptional circumstances such as long term illness of the plicyholder or close relative, fire, burglary, bereavement etc. Would any such circumstance or similar apply to your dad. Please feel free to pm me the details if you do not wish to discuss on a public forum.

Having said that the date does seem quite early for a CIS policy to be time barred. Have you or your dad been in touch with them to check the dates and ask for copies of the original high risk letters to confirm the contents of the letter you refer to
