Looks as if taxation of this new resource could save our bacon. I wonder how many trillion pounds worth of gas this is worth?

Cuadrilla Resources believes there are 200 trillion cubic feet of "shale" gas in the Bowland basin, which could result in a Lancashire gas boom creating 5,600 jobs at peak production.

And with Rockhopper finding some good deposits off the Falklands things are really looking up. I'm sure we'll share as much of that with them post independence as they intend to share the north sea deposits with us.

A few problems...

- Cuadrilla are lying about the amount of gas to get attention
- the Nimby's in Blackpool won't allow it to be extracted (it might spoil Blackpool!).
- George Osbourne will tax it sufficiently that we'll still need to buy externally

Blackpool's a perfect location if you enjoy roaming from pub to pub with a group of chavy friends.

I'd make it even better by removing litter bins. I really enjoy the chip papers circling in the wind and I think, the few, people there who use litter bins are spoiling it for the majority.

Blackpool. I dont know what the complaints are about the possibility of an earthquake - a 9.0 would be the best thing to happen to blackpool for years. You know you are the bottom of the barrel if you have a stag/hen do in blackpool.

We wont see a penny from it, Gas prices wont fall, it wont be used to end our ransom payments to Russian gas, why, because the Gas under Blackpool belongs to the EU, not us, they will decide where it goes and which EU countries get it cheap whilst, in short it will be stolen from us while we still pay through the nose.
