Yours should be correct as 747L is the normal tax code. Your Partner has some reduction in his code for some reason, he should of received a P2 coding notice to explain this, if not he should contact the tax office for an explanation.0

OP, yours is correct for 2011/2012.
Your partners was correct if from 2002/03, as the 'naomal' rate then was 453L, today it is 747L (which you have).
HTHMy countdown to christmas 2011 began when I discovered this forum, thank you everyone! :rudolf::xmastree::rudolf:0 -

Being part time has absolutely nothing to do with your tax code. Tax code means how much an individual can earn tax free (add 0 - 747L - £7475 tax free) in a tax year.
This changes nearly every year.
The only times tax code should vary from this is when:
a/ person has more then 1 income (2 jobs, pension and a job)- therefore main tax code will apply to main job and the other job will be taxed in full
b/ person has "taxable benefits", ie company car, health insurance - something paid for by employer that has monetary value (and therefore can be taxed).
If your partner's tax code has not changed for 8 years AT ALL, this suggests that his payroll dept never updated the system for new tax codes. Or that he has some kind of benefit, but it would be strange that the tax code would not change at all still... unless the benefit value kept exactly in line with the increases in tax free allowances...
BTW tax year starts 6th April and ends 5th April (if employed April - March payroll), so 2010/2011 will be April 2010 - end March 2011 TAX YEAR etc..
Edit: If the former is true (that his employer did not change tax codes appropriately with tax free allowance increases), your partner would be due a tax refund from HMRC.0
