Help, how can I change my dresses?

  • I'm in agreement with the ones who've said just wear one of your existing dresses again. I couldn't even tell you what most of my colleagues were wearing today, let alone to the last event.

If you really want to change it up a bit, I'd add something like a wide sash style belt in a trendy colour/fabric, or some flowers. Love the previous idea of the flowers on a decorative strap.
  • You could try some elasticated sequin strips as shoulder straps, with maybe another one around the waist for some definition there. That would take about ten minutes to sew on with a couple of stitches, and even less to take off again once you were done with the look.

I'm with those who are wondering whether it's really necessary to be seen in something something different though. I've seen pictures of at least three events recently which were attended by Kate Middleton where she wore an outfit that she'd already been seen in at a previous function. She wasn't getting slated for it either. You're highly unlikely to bag yourself a thrifty Prince by giving your unaltered frocks another whirl at company functions, but if you don't try it then you're never going to know :)

    Hi OP

it would really help if yu cud post pics.If you cant post pics of real dresses you cud look up similar dresses on net and then paste them into this thread.that way we can really be able to see waht you could possibly do with them.

however this is what i suggest, buy material(which ever colour you prefer) or look for old dress/material in charity shop.and add it to the bottom of the dress. That is in in the for of block colours at the moment. Also u cud buy/make a fabric brooch to wear with it, in the same color of the fabric u are gonna add to the dress.

hope you are able to "see" what i am talking abt!!!!!!!!!!will see if i can get som pics!

Why not consider altering it from a striaght skirt to a pencil skirt?
    Or
Colour blocking is a good idea >

This wouldn't be to difficult on a straight hemmed skirt.

Or even creating an off the shoulder effect with fabric roses?

Another thought, have you considered buying some organza or a sheer fabric and layering it over the top of your original dress ?
or using it underneath the skirt to add extra shape to it.

    If its a plain fabric,
I'd maybe straighten off the hem on the red one, rather than it being pointy, make it either a striaght skirt, or pencil, and use any excess fabric to create one strap, if you can afford some fabric Id create some fabric roses (They are really simple to make) and sew them on to the shoulder and possibly some smaller ones along the neckline.
