I wake up and just want to sleep again

hi,

recently been put on AD, I know it takes time to work but could it be making me tired? I go to bed early as am knacked and take a sleepin pill cos I was wakin up during the night for hours so that helps me, but now when I wake up am shattered - some days I cope and can get on with it, well basically I have to, got three kids and then other days I just stay in all day and when the younger girls have their nap I have one too as DS at school.

I will be going to the docs soon for a wee review of meds etc and will mention it but just don't know if this is part and parcel of body gettin used to the tabs.. its murder if so!!!

Anyone had similar ? :o

Wanting to stay in bed all day and having absolutely no motivation is all a part of depression, and I should imagine a lot of it is your body getting used to ADs.

What ADs are you on by the way?

I was put on ADs at the end of May, and I am constantly exhuasted. To top it all off I am now out of work and therefore I have nothing to get up for - so it's not helping by waking up 10 - 11am and then not going to bed till 1 - 2 or even 3 am.

Keeping busy is a key, I tend to find I'm less exhausted if I've had things to do during the day - even if it's just walking into town, having a cuppa in my favourite coffee shop, then a walk home again.

Keep your chin up and let me know how you get on.
  • I am on Citalopram which works great but it makes me knackered all the time! People even comment on how shattered I look.
    Are you on this too?
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!! :p

    Thanks for reading guys,

I am on citalopram. I did think about the fatigue being major part of depression.. but a few weeks of not getting to sleep and feeling anxious I hope this isn't going to hang over on me.

I phoned docs today and got an appt for next week - if its going to make me forever exhausted I can't really cope - got kids that I want to be 'fit and able' for them and just for myself really too - I have already had two naps today and just bought an energy drink for a hopeful boost.

Hope you get something soon Purple and I know what you mean about doing stuff - but some days its just having the will to do that... it sounds awful and I know people can think just deal with it, but i have never felt like this before and its really hard at times.. I don't always feel like company or going out but will try harder.

Yea skypie how do you deal with the exhaustion? I was considering proplus last night and I have had an odd sunbed to try and give myself a colour cos sometimes I look pale with tiredness but I really oughta wash my hair more lol.. I just look like poop today :o.

    Debt-free and Proud!
I have the same issue, hadn't thought it could be Ads though - I am on the same ones. But veeerry gradually reducing to come off eventually. Might see if I can speed up the process in case this is making me exhausted. I have had thyroid drugs too, but although I thought they were working initially I'm not sure now. Anyone get any answers, please keep posting! x

I find the best thing is a utterly regular bedtime that allows for 9 hours in bed. Just read if dont feel like sleeping at first
I work and was going to sleep at work but now much better.
Worst is staying up late becasue of 'second wind' then gettingup late

Hi 166million - just make sure you see your docs about reducing to come off them - just for your own wellbeing. I was reading up on thyroid problems but trying to not diagnose myself but just reading similarity to my symptoms. Hope you get answers :)

I have had that second wind sometimes and forced myself to do dishes n hang up washings etc, glad you are much better after falling asleep at work, felt like that sometimes lol (work weekends)

um sometimes I am in before or around nine  Kinda glad I can't get up late though cos of work then the kids during the week - that has kinda made me not 'give up' if you know what I mean.

Are you still taking the sleeping pill, as well as the anti-depressant? If you are, does the doctor know? Some drugs interact.......
