Going to a christening...headwear?

I can't think of the last time I went to a christening but am going to one in 2 weeks. Do people generally wear hats/fascinators these days, or are they more confined to weddings? Before anyone thinks I'm the sort who hates wearing hats and doesn't want to feel pressured to wear one, I'm the opposite...I love a wedding for an excuse to buy something for my head. But having said that I hate feeling overdressed and would feel awkward if I had something perched on top and everybody else was hat-free!

I personally think christenings are less formal than weddings, I would yes to a fascinator, but think hat may be a bit to posh for it. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

christenings are just normal church wear - not many people wear hats or fascinators to go to church on a Sunday.0

My two older grandsons were Christened two years ago and my youngest is having his special day in October. The Christening is just part of the normal Sunday service. As such, we just dressed smartly but I did not see anyone wearing a hat or fascinator.
For the October Christening, I am planning to wear my best black coat, black trousers and I have new shoes and bag. I will wear a smart top underneath ready for the lunch afterwards.
I must admit, I do like an excuse to wear a hat myself but sadly I don't think a Christening is one of them!0
