Mega Block DTD deal in Mr. T's if you can find them!

Hi Folks,

Was shopping today for birthday pressies for my DD and had hoped to find some of the 190 piece Mega Block sets mentioned elsewhere, that were scanning at £3.25 (previously £15).

In my local Tescos and found nothing interesting, but in the seasonal clearance section (now almost filled with Christmas sweeties), my hubby found two boxes of 550 piece mega blocks, big blue box with red lid. No SEL, so took it over to self scanner, praying for a £3.25 box...

On my way across, I noticed a half price sticker - £30 reduced to £15 - so I started praying for it to now scan at £30! Which it did!

Very unassumingly  I walked back across the store to my hubby, put my box in the trolley and then lifted the second box, then straight over to the self scanner.

Sure enough, both through at £30 each and both stickered at half price.

Gasping at my reciept, I fained shock at being charged £60 and walked across to CS who handed me £60 and an apology, lovely.

I also managed to get a flip camcorder for £20, so what a great day shopping.

Hope this helps some of you out with pressies for your little ones xx

This is the same one that has been going for a few months.... seems like they have found loads more stock as the couldn't be found a few weeks back but loads of sightings of them over the last two days.

    I got one myself tonight.

Note of caution though, some stores do have the correct SEL of £15 on them rather than £30
  • Thanks OP... My son has been asking for a tub of these for christmas ...Just been and got one it scanned at £30 so got the tub of blocks and £30 back :j

  • which stores are you talkin about please? also, do you think if i called the store , that is local-ish to me beforehand, to see if they have them, they would let me know.. or is it worth risking the 12 mile journey???

I wouldn't phone the store if you're going to attempt DTD as you may highlight the problem...

don't call them! they might see the sticker and check the price and your dtd is gone! if they tell you thy have some and remove the stickers because you alerted them you will have a wasted journey then! :p only go if you need to do some shopping anyway or just make a big list of bargains(barbie dtd?) you would get if you found them so you have a better chance of getting something... maybe some soup, shreddies coupons as well? I don't think it's worth going only for the megablocks... :)
  • There was a whole load in tesco home store in Br@€£nell today all had half price stickers for £15 but scanning on the self scanner for £30, was too scared to try for the DTD as I wasn't buying anything else just looking for any other deals and didn't want to look too suspect with only buying then and I wasn't sure if the DTD worked in the home direct store!
  • tonnes of these in br1ssl1ngton but i dont need them so didnt buy them. They all had £15 stickers on. hth
  • Hi all - don't wish to sound daft, but what is DTD?

I bought one in a home store yesterday and took it straight to CS, it was the only thing I'd bought and I just said I did it on the self scanner and didn't pay attention to the amount as I paid on my card. No problem she kindly gave me £30 back no problem, so be brave and give it a go!
