Standard life bank

I have complained to Standard life Bank. Please please join me in writing to this bank. We have been paying one of the highest SVR for the past four years. This bank is doing nothing to help the banking crisis. They have not offered mortgage customers any new deals for the past four years. They have been taken over by Barclays so why don't we have the same offers as Barclays customers.
We are getting a raw deal. Absolutely stuffed by this bank!! I urge you to write in and complain. We need Martin on the case!

So, you chose to get a deal with S Life?
And you choose not to get a deal elsewhere?
And how is that S Life's fault exactly?0 -
Please keep the whinging to one thread.0

If you are sufficiently creditworthy to remortgage, remortgage.
If you are not, then the rate you are paying is probably justified!0 -

So, you are getting exactly what you signed up for and agreed to.They have been taken over by Barclays so why don't we have the same offers as Barclays customers.
Because the mortgage book of Standard Life bank was based on Standard Life lending criteria. Not Barclays lending criteria. At a guess, I would expect Std Life's book to be higher risk than Barclays. Plus, it was funded mostly on debt and not savers. So, that still needs to be factored out of the equation by Barclays. We are getting a raw deal. Absolutely stuffed by this bank!!
You are getting what you agreed to.I urge you to write in and complain.
What would the complaint be? Hello Mr Banker, I wish to complain that you are giving me what I asked for with my mortgage. I want you to break the terms because I am too lazy to remortgage myself.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. No thank you. I'm not a customer.discrumpled wrote: »I have complained to Standard life Bank. Please please join me in writing to this bank.
That's one of those things. Somebody has to be highest. Somebody has to be lowest. I bet the SVR today is still lower than it was when you took the mortgage out though. We have been paying one of the highest SVR for the past four years.
Yes they are. They are charging you more interest which enables them to build up a stronger capital base. Stronger banks are good for the economy. This bank is doing nothing to help the banking crisis.
Was there ever a contractual requirement for them to offer new deals? As I understand things, they promised you their standard variable rate which they could move at their own discretion. You agreed to this. They have not offered mortgage customers any new deals for the past four years.
Because the mortgage book was funded differently, has different arrears and repossession rates and a different bad debt rate. They have been taken over by Barclays so why don't we have the same offers as Barclays customers.
