Wide calf wellies

I want to be prepared for this bad winter we are due to get again this year. As I am a 'larger lady' I need wellies with a larger calf (50 cms). I know I can get them online but I am either a 6 or 7 depending on the boot itself. Is there anywhere in Belfast or Newtownabbey that sells them so I can try before I buy? Thanks in advance

I'd love to find a wider calf pair as well.
Another option is to wear walking/mountain shoes. They have a really large thread which means the chances of slipping are slim. I wore them last year and definitely felt a lot safer in them. They mightn't be so ideal in the slush and aren't quite as fashionable, but after a sprained ankle last year I'm not taking any chances.
Good luck finding a pair.0 -
Please don't take this the wrong way, just thinking out loud here.. but what about mens wellies, I would assume they would have a wider calf than ladies boots?? I just measured my own calf and it's 46cm naked (and I'm a "larger" fella) so allowing for legwear, I'd say 50cm would be a minimum for me.
I'm assuming these are being bought more with practicality in mind than aesthetics..

i'd try the fishing shops, they have some comfortable wellies. don't think you'll find any pink spotty ones though0

why don't you try emailing wedge wellies, explain the situation and see how if they'd agree to a no quibble return? i've heard they have great customer service, so might be worth a try. they do the flex which is normal foot width/wide calf and the curve which is wide foot/wide calf
then let me know how they are cause i'd like a pair! i love that they do normal foot/wide calf, as my monstrous calves definitely do not match my dainty feet! haha0 -
i can't tell you what shops might sell them, but i would think most of the good outdoorsy shops would - take a look at muck boots - the top section is made of stretchy neoprene which accommodates a range of calf sizes (example here, NB I just pulled it off google, not sure how the price compares) http://www.easy-wellies.co.uk/muckboots-greta-mid-height-fuchsia-pink-p-227.html0

I got mine from Brantano, but not sure if you have one over there:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Look in Decathlon. My mum got some shortie wellies in there last year for, I think, £15. They were generous around the calf, and being shortie ones get around the problem most taller wellies have. I was with my Mum when she got them and there were loads of different colours, she got purple ones.0

I know Hunters do wider calf fittings but I'm not sure which shops sell them & they're quite expensive. You said you saw some on-line. Can I ask which brands you saw? Thanks0

Thanks all
Wee Bargain Hunter it was these

These have 2 buckles per boot and look lovely. It was something like these I would like but I would need to try them on first. Also they are £50 and I couldn't afford to loose that much money if they didn't fit. I ordered boots before on line a while back and they didn't do and I wasn't able to send them back (charity shop got them) so thats why I want to try on first.[FONT="]

Hello
I too have chunky claves - Welligogs are good and wide (google them) or if you have smallish feet the kids wellies in Mountain Warehouse are fine as they are short!
