I purchased my council property with a RTB broker back in July 2004. Recently I received a letter from a legal claims team informing me that I may well have a claim due to excessive arrangement & solicitors fees. Can I pursue this myself and if so how????

Ignore it. Unless the fees differ from those disclosed in the Key Facts and offer they are legal regardless of the amount. You agreed to what was there.
Similarly with the solicitors fees. If you did not agree to them then why go ahead with it.
These companies are parasites. The sooner they are required to take some responsibility for these claims the better. As it is they do not have to pay a penny even if their claims are proven to be totally unfounded.
If there is a complaint to be made then pursue it yourself, not by using a leech who will take 30% plus of any award.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
